Each essential oil was chosen not only for its aromatic beauty, but for its traditional skin-supporting properties:

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) – balancing and uplifting, traditionally used to support healthy skin, help regulate excess oil, and promote a smooth, radiant complexion.

Known for its gentle floral aroma with subtle rosy notes, palmarosa is widely used in natural skincare for its ability to support the skin’s moisture balance and maintain a soft, supple feel. It is often incorporated into formulations designed for dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin, as it helps encourage a healthy-looking glow while promoting overall skin balance. Optiphen Plus, a preservative, is needed for this formula because there is water in the product and we need to prevent any bacterial growth. I chose Optiphen Plus because it is free from formaldehyde, parabens, halogens, and is non-isothiazolinone, making it a safe choice for cosmetic applications.

Stearic Acid is a naturally derived fatty acid often sourced from plant oils like shea butter or coconut. In skincare, it helps thicken and stabilize formulas while giving creams, lotions, and body butters a rich, smooth feel. It also supports moisture retention, helping products leave skin feeling soft and conditioned rather than greasy.

Emulsifying Wax NF is a plant-derived ingredient used to bind oil and water together, allowing creams and lotions to stay smooth, stable, and evenly blended. It helps create that soft, creamy texture while improving how a product spreads and absorbs on the skin.
